Fort Road Revitalization Stalled

In recent days, it has been reported that the Fort Road redevelopment, which was supposed to leverage the nearby LRT link to create an urban village … hasn’t been developing.  Costs have escalated, and inevitable cries of “let’s put it off” have been sounded.

This isn’t an option.

In a world where inflation (especially in Alberta) causes the prices of everything to continually increase, the price will almost certainly NEVER go down.

If we abandon the idea altogether, the area with its vacant buildings will devolve into a haven for the criminal element.

Urban renewal, done properly, will allow for major strides to be made in cleaning up the area.

Unless of course, this is what we want!
